what about a rise in blood pressure by using the nuvaring?

I was on the pill for twelve years, and when I turned forty my blood pressure was elevated. I would like to know just what are the side affects of this method of birth control. Any facts or information would be helpful.

What concerns should I have if any about high blood pressure and pregnancy?

My blood pressure is slightly elevated. I’m concerned that if I got pregnant that it would affect the baby negatively. If there are any health professionals out there who can give me sound advice on this please respond to how high blood pressure would affect a pregnancy and should I be concerned and what are the problems that could/would occur. I hav no knowledge so any information would be helpful Thanks.

How to go about losing weight as a 17 year old girl?

I currently am 5′5″ and weigh 168 pounds, making my BMI a 28 (overweight).

I would really like to lose weight, but I’m afraid of going about it the wrong way. I just recently had my blood pressure taken and it was 120/60. I have no idea what this means, so is it bad or good? Also how often should a girl my age be exercising, how many calories should I be eating, and what else should I be doing to lower my weight. According to the BMI calculator, the most I can weigh to be considered a healthy weight is 150, but I would love to get down to 135 (my goal weight).

Thank you!!

Where can I find information about history of high blood pressure? (like who discovered it, etc.)?

Needing answers about high blood pressure at 34w4d preg..PLZ HELP?

i posted a similar article earlier. i am in the hospital at the moment and have been ok all day except for when my blood pressure was taken. mine never gets out of the range of 90/50-105/60. today i got my blood pressure checked and it was 126/61 which alarmed me so the nurse said she would wait an hour n come back and check it. then it was 136/73 this is a major difference for me. i am currently in the hospital on bedrest because my water broke on friday of last week and i was only 33w2d along and they said that i need to be here until i am 36 weeks or i go into labor on my own or if i get an infection. is the blood pressure something i should make sure the dr knows about because i dont believe the nurses have charted it. or is this not that big of a change in blood pressure and im worried fir nothing? they said they will not let the dr know until it reaches 160/something ..any ideas?

10 weeks pregnant, question about blood pressure?

I have had higher blood pressure for a few years now. I’ve come to terms with it. When I had my first OB visit (interview) they checked it because they were prepared to put me on meds that day if it was as high as it usually is. It was 140/80 that day. She said it wasn’t great, but it wasn’t anything they were going to worry about yet. That was two weeks ago. Today I went for an ultrasound and they checked my BP again to monitor it. It was 120/78 which is damn near perfect for a BP reading.

Does anyone know why it would have changed so drastically? Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy about it.. But I’m wondering if the reading was possibly inaccuate for some reason. I didn’t see my OB today, it was just a nurse who did my BP reading after my ultrasound so she could chart it for my doctor.
I guess I don’t mean why “would” it have gone down. I really mean why “could” it have gone down so much.

Question about High Blood Pressure and medication?

For the last couple of months my blood pressure has been all over the place. Sometimes its really high. Sometimes a little high and sometimes just normal. I had mentioned to my doctor one day about 2 episodes I had where my blood pressure jumped extremely high. I was just sitting on the couch watching a movie and the other time on the computer. I always know when my blood pressure is high because it makes me feel kinda funny. After I had told her this she looked back through my chart and noticed that it fluctuated quite often. She was mostly concerned with the lower number. Anyway, she prescribed me 40 mg of Micardis.

I guess I’m concerned that if I take this medication and my blood pressure is “normal”, will it make it drop lower? Of course, I didn’t think to ask her this when I saw her and getting a hold of her is very difficult. Just looking for people who may have experienced this before.

I am in my late 30’s and my mother had a stroke when she was in her early 40’s. She was never diagnosed with hypertension until after her stroke.

I did ask this question in another category, but I was hoping I might get some more input.
